I'm continuing with my re-renders of existing models. After the tank and Mechwarrior galleries, it is time to redo my catamaran aircraft carrier. You liked it, but now, I've done some tremendous improvements, including fresh new textures, more realistic paint and wear befitting a vessel afloat in a marine environment, better lighting, shadows, water, and sky. All in all, you're in for a treat, me hopes.
All of the work was done in Kerkythea, using realistic materials, with some extra work using GIMP, mostly color balance, brightness and other tiny details. I hope you will find this useful and inspiring. Well, I'm talking too much already. Just enjoy the images.

First, a few images without rusty, corrugated steel plating. Just some fancy metal and some GIMP effects:
Then, drama unfolds:
A handful of images with a variety of sky and lighting effects:
A long-range shot:
And here's the best shot. This one took 19 hours to render on all four cores on my new desktop. Imagine what would happen if I were to increase the quality and resolution. I think this image is particularly nice, as it also shows the ship's wake and whatnot. And the clouds also merge nicely with the horizon, sort of like a calm faraway summer storm. You are free to disagree, of course, but then, you would be totally, completely and utterly wrong.
Well, that would be all. More goodness coming.
Cheers.
